New Name…Same Friendly Faces!
Fall has always been a favorite season of mine. After a long hot summer, the crisp air just seems extra refreshing. Not to mention, the beautiful fall foliage and the smell of leaves and bonfires in the air!
Well, the season has not only changed for mother nature, but for us as well! As you may already know, as of August 17th, I had the honor and privilege of becoming the new owner of this wonderful practice, and giving it a new name, “Amanda’s Family Hearing!”
I can vividly remember meeting MaryAnn for my “interview” at Olive Garden back in 2012 after I had just graduated with my Doctorate of Audiology from the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium. It was a fairly casual interview, since we already knew each other. I had worked as her receptionist several years prior while in high school as I was thinking about making audiology my career.
Over dinner we discussed our long term goals and plans. I remember MaryAnn specifically asking me if I could see myself as a business owner one day, and if I would want to take over her business when it came time for her to retire. To be honest, I was rather intimidated by the thought of being in her shoes and having the sheer amount of responsibility she had as the owner. The thought of being a business owner was really not something I had planned for myself. All I was sure of was that I wanted to be an Audiologist so that I could help people to hear better!
To my surprise, my visions drastically changed over time! I owe that to MaryAnn, as she empowered me by giving me independence to grow and “find myself,” as well as gain the confidence I needed to one day become the professional business owner she saw in me. She had always believed in my ability to succeed, but she patiently waited and helped me find it for myself!
Fast forward about nine years and several experiences later, and that distant possibility of being a business owner became a reality! Some of my patient’s I’ve had since the beginning of my career have told me how much they have seen me grow as a professional, and how proud they are of me. That means the world to me!
I certainly have some big shoes to fill, and I know my time of learning is far from over. This is just the beginning of a new adventure, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us all! As MaryAnn retires, I know she will be greatly missed by many. Although I cannot be MaryAnn, you can be assured that the care you receive will be just the same! If you are not yet a patient of mine I welcome you with open arms, and I look forward to getting to know you during our visits together!
Please Pardon our “Dust”
With change there is always a little bit of adapting and learning. While the care you receive will remain the same, always, we are making other changes on the back end so that we can improve our services for you! We are hoping to go paperless by the end of year one, and make everything integrated digitally so that we can keep better records, improve our scheduling process, and run things even more efficiently than they already are. We just ask for your understanding and patience while we learn our new procedures! Thank you in advance!!
What (Else) Is New?
We are excited to announce that Nancy Lambo (Nan), our patient care coordinator, is back at the office! We have certainly missed her fun and bubbly attitude, and we are so happy to have her back on our team!
You may also notice a new face around the office or a new voice over the phone! My husband, James Barbur, is the newest part of our team at AFH. He is our assistant office manager, and he will be doing a little bit of everything! He is very personable and loves striking up conversations with people. Be sure to say hi and make him feel welcome next time you see him!
